Christian Eriksen made an emotional return to international football with a goal for Denmark in their 4-1 win over Slovenia in their opening match of Euro 2024.

The midfielder, who suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark's opening match of Euro 2020, scored the opening goal of the game in the 24th minute.

Eriksen's goal was his first for Denmark since that fateful day in June 2021, and it was a moment that was clearly very special for the player.

After the game, Eriksen said: "It was an amazing feeling to score again for Denmark. It's been a long road back, but I'm so happy to be back playing for my country."
