Frances Tiafoe upset Russian Andrey Rublev in five sets to advance to the semifinals of the U.S. Open on Wednesday.
Tiafoe won 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach his first Grand Slam semifinal.
The 24-year-old American is the first Black player to reach the U.S. Open semifinals since Arthur Ashe in 1972.
Fritz Beats Auger-Aliassime
Taylor Fritz defeated Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in four sets to advance to the semifinals of the U.S. Open.
Fritz won 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, 6-4 to reach his first Grand Slam semifinal.
The 24-year-old American is the first American man to reach the U.S. Open semifinals since Andy Roddick in 2003.
Tiafoe vs. Fritz in All-American Semifinal
Tiafoe and Fritz will face off in an all-American semifinal on Friday.
The winner will advance to the final and face either No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev or No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz.
