Tulsa Oklahoma Tornado 2024

Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak Leaves Trail of Destruction

Multiple Large and Extremely Dangerous Tornadoes Reported

April 28, 2024

A tornado outbreak in Oklahoma overnight prompted calls to take cover, with the National Weather Service reporting multiple large and extremely dangerous tornadoes on the ground. The storms left a trail of destruction across several counties, with multiple people injured and damage to homes and businesses.

The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for several counties in central and eastern Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Norman. The storms moved rapidly through the area, leaving behind a path of destruction. Emergency crews are on the scene assisting with search and rescue efforts.

The damage from the tornadoes is still being assessed, but it is clear that the storms caused significant damage. Homes and businesses have been destroyed, and trees and power lines have been downed. The National Weather Service is urging residents to stay indoors and avoid any unnecessary travel. The storms are expected to continue throughout the day, and additional tornadoes are possible.

If you are in the path of a tornado, please take shelter immediately. The safest place to be is in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of your home. If you cannot get to a basement, go to an interior room on the ground floor. Close all windows and doors, and stay away from windows. If you are outside, lie down in a ditch or other low-lying area and cover your head with your hands.
