April 1-3, 2024 Outbreak Leaves Devastating Damage

A deadly tornado outbreak tore through Oklahoma on Monday evening, prompting widespread damage and calls for residents to take cover. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued numerous tornado warnings and confirmed multiple tornadoes touching down.

As of early Tuesday morning, four fatalities have been reported, along with numerous injuries. Governor Kevin Stitt has declared a state of emergency for 12 counties impacted by the severe weather.

"My prayers are with those who lost loved ones as tornadoes ripped through Oklahoma last night," Governor Stitt said in a statement. "We are working closely with local and federal officials to respond to the damage and provide assistance to those in need."

The NWS confirmed that several tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma, including an EF-4 tornado that caused extensive damage in the town of Ringling. The tornado ripped through buildings, downed power lines, and uprooted trees.

Severe thunderstorms and hail also developed in Oklahoma on Monday evening, spawning additional tornado warnings. A line of thunderstorms swept across the region, bringing heavy rainfall and the risk of flash flooding.

The National Weather Service has warned that the threat of severe weather will continue throughout the night. Residents in the affected areas are urged to monitor weather updates and be prepared to take shelter if a tornado warning is issued.
