Working with All Your Heart
A Motivational Passage from the Bible
Colossians 3:23
In the book of Colossians, the apostle Paul exhorts believers to work with all their hearts, regardless of their occupation or status. In verse 23, he writes, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." This verse offers a powerful motivation for excellence in all that we do.
When we work with all our hearts, we are not merely doing our duty or earning a paycheck. Instead, we are working as if we are serving the Lord Himself. This means that we put our best effort into everything we do, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem. We do not cut corners or take the easy way out. We strive for excellence in all that we do because we know that we are working for our Master in heaven.
This verse also reminds us that our work is not ultimately for the approval of human beings. We may desire the praise and recognition of others, but our true motivation should be to please the Lord. When we work for the Lord, we are not concerned with what others think of us. We are only concerned with doing what is right and pleasing to Him.
Working with all our hearts is not always easy. There will be times when we are tired, discouraged, or tempted to give up. But if we remember that we are working for the Lord, we will find the strength to persevere. We will know that our work is not in vain, but that it is making a difference in the lives of others and bringing glory to God.
So let us all be encouraged to work with all our hearts, in whatever we do. Let us remember that we are working for the Lord, and that our work is making a difference in the world.
